Die Hundeblume Edition M & M; Hamburg, Germany; 1998 Author: Wolfgang Borchert Illustrator/Artist: Jërgen Meyer Jurkowski Printer: text Klaus Raasch, Hamburg Printer: etchings Winfried Henkel, Viernau Binder: Ludwig Vater, Jena Contact: www.buchgrafik.de Book design by Jërgen Meyer Jurkowski. Printed in Bembo at Offizin Haag-Drugulin on Hahnemëhle mold-made paper. Edition of 50, 32 pages with seven etchings (line-etching, aquatinta, drypoint). Wolfgang Borchert's first novel, from 1947, is a story about a man in prison under the Nazi regime. The etchings of Meyer Jurkowski respond to the text's atmosphere and move between realism and surrealism. The typography, following the monologigal structure of the novel, flows through the pages like a ribbon. Edition M & M, founded in 1998 by artist and book designer Jërgen Meyer Jurkowski, sees book art as an integration of literary art and the art of illustration. The press has published four editions. |
