Steamroller Prints
Check out these photos and video clips. You'll get a glimpse
of the fun the SFCB community had at our annual fundraiser, pulling
prints from giant linoleum-cut blocks using a steamroller!

Take a look at the prints from
2006.

The San Francisco Center for the Book is a 501(C)3 nonprofit educational organization that depends on the involvement and generosity of individuals and on contributions from foundations and government agenices including the
National Endowment for the Arts to provide many of its education initiatives, public events and book-arts programming.
There are four ways you can help support the activities at the SFCB:

Support for the ABC Initiative
The San Francisco Center for the Book is proud to offer an innovative free
program that supports children's literacy through the book arts. Called
The ABC Initiative, or the
Art of
the Book in the Classroom, it brings book artists into qualifying
public-school classrooms to teach students in kindergarten through 8th
grade a range of bookmaking projects. Thanks to grants from
The San Francisco Foundation and the
Miranda Lux Foundation,
this program is now entering its third year. The SFCB is deeply
gratefully to these organizations for their generous support.
The ABC Initiative
was launched in 2004-2005 with support from the National
Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great
art. The SFCB is grateful to the NEA, as well as to the Raymond Family
Foundation and the Tin Man Fund for their generosity in providing matching
funds for the Center's NEA grant. The Center would also like to thanks its
grantmakers for the ABC Initiative in 2005-2006,
The San Francisco Foundation
and
the
Walter & Elise Haas Fund.
Our Volunteer Program
Helping out at the Center is a wonderful way to learn more about the book arts, make friends, earn free classes and more. We have a wealth of volunteer activities — from answering phones, staffing events, helping with publicity, setting up exhibitions, proof-reading, designing workshop flyers, to printing letterpress invitations and much more. We welcome volunteers on weekdays, evenings and weekends. If you are interested in contributing your time and energy to the Center, contact Volunteer Coordinator Katherine Case at katherine@sfcb.org or 415-565-0545 between 10 am and 5 pm. She'll help make a match between your talents and interests and our current volunteer projects.
Thanks to our dedicated volunteers this past trimester
