Never judge a book by its cover, the adage goes. But the judges for the 71st annual 50 Books/50 Covers competition did just that. The result is a lively and informative exhibition of the nation's best designed books and book covers. Winners in the latest competition held by the American Institute of Graphic Arts were chosen for excellence in design and production. The books and covers span trade and reference works, children's books, museum and university publications, as well as limited-edition and special-format books.
