The exhibition, a 25-year retrospective, featured work by over 30 Californian College of Arts and Crafts faculty and alumni who have made continuing contributions to the book arts field. The show highlighted original artwork dating from 1972—when “artist’s book” was an unfamiliar term—through the present, when making a book is a well-known option for artists and reflected the variety of creative energy found in the book arts—ranging from traditional letterpress broadsides to sculptural constructs to mail art.

Artists represented included Betsy Davids, Nance O’Banion, Johanna Drucker, Wolfgang Lederer, Tom Ingalls, Steve Renick and Alisa Golden.
