Kite Book begins as a kit-colorful circles forming a mathematical narrative, printed on Japanese paper, plus strings, rods and an instruction booklet-and can assume two other forms. Partial construction turns it into a flat kite; full assembly yields a caterpillar kite. The more involved the viewer, the more three-dimensional, usable and alive the book becomes.
