Poetry Reading: Kay Ryan, National Poet Laureate
Area: General
Category: reading
Fri Mar 06 7pm-9pm
$5

National Poet Laureate and California native, Kay Ryan, will read with Oakland based poet and martial arts instructor, D.R. Goodman.

Ryan, in collaboration with Tucker Nichols, created the 2008 Small Plates edition How Birds Sing. The book opens with Ryan's text and unfolds with whimsical drawings by Nichols. The words and images are letterpress printed on heavyweight white paper and simply bound into a black cover. This edition was part of the quarterly Small Plates series published by the Imprint of the San Francisco Center for the Book. The book is available for purchase online through our Etsy store or in person during business hours.

This event is sponsored by Poetry and Pizza and benefits programs at the Center.
