In the News

Our next exhibition, Wings for Words, opens January 23, and presents bookworks from fourteen professional artists working in South Korea and Japan today.

In a first-time collaboration, SFCB and the African American Museum and Library at Oakland are presenting the exhibit Banned and Recovered: Artists Respond to Censorship, opening August 15 in San Francisco and September 5 in Oakland.

The Bay Area is a center for the thriving art of hand bookbinding according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Book Arts Salon

Well-known calligrapher Thomas Ingmire will present tonight. The Book Arts Salon (formerly the Bookarts Users Group, or BUG) is an informal gathering for local artists and writers to convene and converse. Free and everyone is welcome.

Holiday Fair
Friday Dec 12, 6-8pm and Saturday Dec 13 12-5pm
Do your holiday shopping at the Center. We'll have gifts for sale by a wide variety of printers, bookbinders, book artists, and other craftspeople, as well as 2009 calendars from members of the Pacific Center for the Book Arts.
