Jody Alexander
Canalis Opusculus: Abecedary II, Fragmented Book

Handmade paper with transfers and wax, sewn over hemp cords
(12-1/2 x 8 inches)
Fascinated by lost languages and ancient art, Jody has used an "appropriated" communication system to conjure a different time and place for viewers. The images (actually gas and water pipe symbols from an old engineering textbook) are intended to suggest an unfamiliar language from a lost civilization.
