This course offers an alternative use for bookbinding materials with 3D paper ornament construction. Taking a page out of geometry textbooks, the instructor will guide students through creating beautiful hand crafted polyhedral forms. Templates will be used to construct each shape which will then be covered in decorative and marbled papers. Students will leave with a small collection of paper structures that ready to use for whatever needs a little festive spirit. 


Materials to Bring: Marbled or decorative paper, if desired. Instructor will be providing decorative papers for students that don't bring their own.

Optional and available at SFCB for student use during workshop: utility knife.

About the Instructor | Pietro Accardi

Pietro Accardi owned a bookbindery in Turin (Italy) for 12 years. He worked for Turin's main public library, Municipal Archives, and University libraries restoring and binding books and he ran his own paper marbling and decorative box making business. Now he lives in Gardnerville, NV.
