Discuss tools and materials for bookbinding and explore adhesives, paper types and uses, as well as grain for paper and book cloth. Learn a variety of structures—single-sheet book, accordion book, single-section pamphlet stitch, combined concertina, and Japanese stab—and make fun, simple books that can be turned into artists’ books.

The instructor will give a full overview of the San Francisco Center for the Book’s Bookbinding Program and how (and why) to obtain the SFCB Bookbinding Certificate.

“Jennie is an excellent teacher. She was energetic and enthusiastic about the topic, she conveyed that energy in a positive and constructive manner. She took care to make sure everyone was getting the techniques. And she spent time up front getting to know us. The techniques were very interesting and I enjoyed learning about bookbinding. The course has whetted my appetite for more.”
