Gray Matter Gardening is a two-color printed book, in an edition of 100, and 4 x 4" in size. It includes handmade paper interleaf detail throughout as well as unique typographic illustrations. The book was handbound with a letterpress printed paper cover. The cover was printed at San Francisco Center for the Book by Melissa Fine and bound by many generous volunteers with the direction of Nanette Wyle. The insides were printed by JP Graphics of Santa Clara.
Nanette Wyle is a California native who grew up in San Jose. She has lived in many different places, but always returns to the Bay Area because she needs to see the Santa Clara range from her font yard. She makes her home in Redwood City where she resides with one spousal unit, one amazing cat, one abundant vegetable garden, and many fruit trees. She is Associate professor of Art and Art History at California State University, Chico.
