There are a plethora of positive things that happen when children learn to make their own books from developing an interest in storytelling and art making to improved language skills and higher self-confidence. In this 4-hour workshop for adults, students will make a mulititude of innovative book structures while learning the best methods to later teach them to children. The instructor will discuss how to motiviate young people to craft and develop tales of their own will also talk about the relationship of content to the book’s format and covers. Everyone will not only leave with the books they’ve created but also ideas and the skills to teach bookmaking to kids.
Materials to Bring: Optional: any flat decorative materials or stamps.
Optional and available at SFCB for student use during workshop: pencil, scissors, glue stick, ruler

About the Instructor | CJ Grossman
CJ Grossman has an MFA from CCA and shows her work internationally. C.J. has a wealth of experience teaching students of all ages to make books. She has taught thousands of kids how to make books and hundreds of teachers how to construct and utilize books with their students. Parents, grandparents, art therapists and other educators sign up for her workshops so that they can make books with kids they know.
