*This class is open only for students who have completed the Bookbinding Core I :: Coptic Binding workshop in person at SFCB. Students who register without having completed Core I in person will be de-enrolled.*

It’s probably been a while since you made your last (or first!) Coptic binding and only practice makes perfect. If you’re looking to practice the structure again, hone your skills, or just refresh your Coptic memory, this class is for you! The instructor will cover key components of the structure including the angled board punch, creating consistent stitches, and pastedowns. Class demos will be done in a cooking show-style with time for specific student questions. The full Coptic binding structure WILL NOT be taught in this class, this is a refresher course only.

The instructor will provide a link to a class-specific webpage the week before the session and will poll students on any specific questions or challenges they would like addressed. In addition to a handout, the webpage will include recommended exploration on the topic such as books and Pinterest inspiration boards.

For students who wish to work with standardized materials, a kit is available. Please select this option when enrolling and be sure to enter your correct mailing address; a kit will be shipped to you via USPS prior to class.

It is strongly recommended that students work on a Coptic Binding or prep materials prior to class so that specific concerns can be addressed on in-progress models during class.
