Who Is America at 250?: A Conversation with the Artists and Curators

  • San Francisco Center for the Book 375 Rhode Island Street San Francisco, CA, 94103 United States (map)

Join San Francisco Center for the Book (SFCB) for a special evening of conversation and reflection during a gallery walk-through of Who Is America at 250: Artists’ Books on the State of Democracy.

This timely exhibition brings together artists’ books that examine, question, and confront what it means to live in — and create in — the United States at this moment in history. Through the lens of book arts, these works explore themes of civic identity, dissent, memory, justice, and democratic ideals.

Exhibition curators will lead a walk-through of the show, joined by exhibiting artists who will share insights into their creative processes, discuss the motivations behind their work, and reflect on the role of the artist in times of political and social upheaval. This is a unique opportunity to engage in an open dialogue about art, activism, and the evolving idea of America as we approach the nation’s 250th anniversary.
