SFCB Book Arts Mentorship Award application
San Francisco Center for the Book (SFCB) offers an annual, one-on-one mentorship for book artists and printers residing outside the Bay Area. This program provides mid-career and established artists from diverse backgrounds with the opportunity to study directly with experienced practitioners in the fields of bookbinding, letterpress printing, and artists’ books. Mentees will work closely with their mentor, receiving individualized guidance tailored to their artistic goals and professional development.
Application deadline: Saturday, February 28, 2026
Mentees are responsible for managing their own travel and lodging arrangements, budget, materials costs, and any additional expenses; upon arrival at SFCB, they will receive a stipend of $3000.
When submitting your application, please format your materials as follows:
Attachment 01 (.pdf only): your artist CV.
Attachment 02 (.pdf only, under 10 MB): Ten work sample images and a corresponding image caption list. For your captions, include the following info for each work: title, date, size, medium, and a short description and/or conceptual intent.
When uploading your files, please label as: lastnameCV.pdf and lastname_worksamples.pdf.
