SFCB Book Arts Mentorship Award application

San Francisco Center for the Book (SFCB) offers an annual, one-on-one mentorship for book artists and printers residing outside the Bay Area. This program provides an opportunity for mid-career and established artists from underrepresented communities to learn from skilled professionals in the bookbinding, letterpress, and artists’ book fields. Our selection process prioritizes increasing representation within these fields; we encourage artists who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ+, or genderqueer to apply. Mentees will work closely with their mentor who will provide personalized guidance tailored to their individual artistic goals and needs.

Application deadline: Saturday, February 28, 2026

Please click through to learn more about each mentor and their criteria for applicants; only one application accepted per person.

Mentees are responsible for managing their own travel and lodging arrangements, budget, materials costs, and any additional expenses; upon arrival at SFCB, they will receive a stipend of $3000.
